Treatments

Acupuncture can be a valuable part of your treatment plan. Our doctors are licensed and certified to perform acupuncture under the Illinois Medical Practice Act.

What you can expect: Most people (even those afraid of needles) are surprised at how painless acupuncture is. The needles are extremely thin.

Some acupuncture points are not felt at all, while others may feel like the brief sting or insect bite. No pain is felt once the needles are in.

Treatment usually lasts 15 – 20 minutes. One-time-use disposable needles are sterile and used for your safety.

Electronic acupuncture is also available and no needles are used.

Chiropractic: Spinal manipulation, or an "adjustment" may involve gentle pressure, or a quick thrust to restore normal motion to joints that have become restricted or "locked."

Massage: Massage is generally considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. It's increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations.

Studies demonstrate that massage is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.

The Acupuncture Alternative:

The National Health Interview Survey found Americans used acupuncture both as an alternative and a complimentary therapy.

Of the 2.13 million Americans who received acupuncture in a recent year, 34% sought treatment because of back pain. A quarter of them were referred to an acupuncturist by a medical doctor.

High levels of patient satisfaction and measured pain relief make chiropractic the highest recommended treatment protocol for back pain by the Agency for Health Care and Policy Research (AHCPR), by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
